Dorset pip the Minstermen in T20
Wimborne & Colehill 114 for 8 lost to Dorset 148 for 8 by 34 runs.
Wimborne & Colehill ensured Dorset had a competitive Twenty20 work out on a fine sunny evening watched by hundreds of spectators at the fabulous new facilities at The Leaze.
Dorset batting first made 148 for 8 and were grateful for number 10 Ed Denham smashing 32* off 14 balls. Dave Taylor (20), Nick Park (19) and Josh Lawrence (19*) all added vital contributions. The Minstermen’s bowling highlights included Andy Hayward (3 for 28 off 4 overs), Mark House (2 for 18 off 3.3 overs), Martin Ford (2 for 30 off 4 overs). House suffered a very nasty injury and had to leave the field following being hit in the mouth in his follow through by Taylor. Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery. Wimborne’s reply suffered a terrible start however Graham Cole 52* and number 10 Gary Jones 15* helped the Minstermen to a more than respectable 114 for 8 and a loss by only 34 runs.
Sue would like to thank everyone connected with Dorset for coming and playing in such an enjoyable match on what was a fitting occassion to officially open the new ground.
